As this section of our website is developed, many topics will be covered which will hopefully be of interest whatever your level of play.
LAWS OF THE SPORT OF BOWLS - Indoor version
Copies of these Laws are available from the http://www.eiba.co.uk
Click on the following link to see the amendments to the current rules http://www.ebua.org.uk/Laws/IndoorLaws.htm
KEEPING THE SCORECARD
Law 43C(i) states "The second player shall keep a records of all shots scored for and against his team and shall at all times retain possession of the scorecard whilst play is in progress." This is a specific duty of the second and may not be delegated to any other player. The only player who has the right to delegate HIS duties is the Skip.
Unfortunately we have this difference between the indoor and outdoor Laws but such is the "wisdom" of having two sets of Laws.
The other significant difference between the Laws which is likely to affect players in games generally is the conditions of "foot-faulting". Outdoors a player is required to take "position on the mat", indoors this is not required. Should a player outdoors not take "position on the mat" which requires one foot FULLY on the mat BEFORE delivery, a foot-fault will have been committed.
The EIBA will be advising clubs on this matter as a mail-out in due course.
Markers' Courses
The English Bowls Umpires Association offer training for Markers as a National course. Courses of three sessions will be arranged and held in the club subject to demand. Please refer to the details available on the noticeboard and the electronic display.
Those interested are requested to enter their names and membership numbers on the list provided. The cost will be £6 in total and include rink fees. There will be no examination or assessment but a Certificate of Attendance will be issued on completion of the third session only.
Coaching Courses
These will be offered in the club. These courses will be presented in accordance with the English Bowls Coaching Scheme standard syllabus for Levels 1 & 2. An assessment will be undertaken at a suitable time following completion of the course and successful candidates will be awarded the appropriate certificate and be licensed through the scheme to deliver coaching at their approved level.
Please watch for announcements on this website and noticeboards in the club for further details.
Members should be aware that only approved coaching within the club is carried out by fully qualified coaches who are registered with the English Bowls Coaching Scheme.
